AQUAPONICS / AQUACULTURE PROGRAM

The middle school is home to a small fish hatchery.  6th grade students assist in raising 100 yellow perch fingerlings.  The project includes sampling the population, maintaining water quality and monitoring the fish life cycles.  This combines the science of aquaculture with the economics of fish farming.  Perch are then released in the middle school pond. Approximately 175 students participate in the program each year.
